The Widmer Brothers Pub

The Widmer Brothers Pub has been serving guests in North Portland since 1996. We offer a seasonal food menu featuring fresh and local ingredients from Portland-area partnerships. With the main brewery across the street and our 10-barrel innovation system next door, the pub is where we showcase our love for crafting delicious beer. Over half of our 24 taps feature small batch brews from the adjacent innovation brewery, so there’s always something new to try. Perch at the bar with a flight or grab a growler or Crowler of your favorite beer to go.

Tap List

Tarte Aux Peches

9.3% ABV | 20.0 IBU

Belgian Tripel

Tarte Aux Peches is a barrel-aged tripel with peaches and cinnamon. This beer is reminiscent of a home-made peach pie, with an unmistakable hint of alcohol sweetness.

RRIS '13

9.5% ABV | 55.0 IBU

Stout - Russian Imperial

Raspberry Russian is an extremely rich and complex beer. We brewed the now classic KGB Russian Imperial Stout as the base beer and added copious amounts of raspberries during fermentation. The result is an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. You will notice the combination of fruit and chocolate in the nose, along with a coffee like roastyness.

Barrel Aged Brrrbon (2015)

11.8% ABV | 45.0 IBU

Winter Warmer

Brrr'bon is our delicious winter seasonal Brrr placed in a single use Bourbon
Barrel with a fresh charge of live yeast for secondary fermentation. Then we forgot about them and let them age for 13 months. What has resulted is a beer
with deep, rich flavor. PROST!

10.1% ABV | 100.0 IBU

IPA - Triple

The beer is an ode to 1 typo and 100+ BU’s. No need to be bitter though, this warming 10%+ IIPA will lull you into submission, compliance, and acceptance of IPA dominance amongst beer styles. Resistance is futile. Give in to this beer, it’s going to be ‘Yuge! Prost!

Russell Street IPA

6.1% ABV | 64.0 IBU

IPA - American

Russell St. is the epitome of a West Coast IPA: big citrusy hop flavor and sessionability despite its big beer body. Made exclusively for the Widmer Brothers Pub and named for the street which Widmer Brothers calls home, Russell St. starts off with a pleasant bitterness that melts into a smooth, malty backbone. The aroma is powered by fan favorite hops like Mosaic and Citra, as well as by new-kids-on-the-block, Calypso and Azacca. These hops provide a plethora of citrus and tropical fruit notes complemented by some subtle herbal spiciness.

4.5% ABV | 22.0 IBU

Lager - Helles

This simple, copper colored brew is perfect for summer! Pilsner and Vienna malts in the grist meet up with noble Hallertau hops in the kettle for a soft, balancing bitterness, then Enigma hops from Australia are added to the whirlpool to give it a slightly fruity flavor and aroma. Portland Bull Run water is adjusted to Munich's mineral profile with brewing salts and Augustiner yeast finishes it off clean.

Fresh Hop Hefe X (HBC 431)

4.9% ABV | 45.0 IBU

Pale Wheat Ale - American

Hefeweizen is an unfiltered American style Hefeweizen (wheat and yeast ale) that is purposefully very cloudy in appearance due to live yeast in suspension. Wheat and biscuit aromas and flavors provide the backbone to the golden beer, and they are augmented by yeast and hop derived citrus and faintly spicy attributes. Hefe X is a FV hopped version focusing on a single hop varietal to highlight the inclusion of specific and unique hops.

Hefe X (Vics Secret)

Oktoberfest Bier

6.0% ABV | 28.0 IBU

Innovation Brewers Dan Munch and Parker Penley teamed up this year to make a fantastic variation of our Oktoberfest Style Bier. What sets this beer apart from many others made around the United States and the world is the use of a decoction mash. This process was traditionally used to develop a rich malty profile whereby a portion of the mash was boiled. Many breweries forgo a decoction when brewing this style due to the fact that it is a laborious and time consuming process. Not us. We see it as a great opportunity to make the malt profile shine. This brewing technique, coupled with an abundance of Munich malt and a touch of floral German hops have come together to create a rich, clean and well-rounded amber lager.

Fresh Hop Crystal Gayle Goschie

5.1% ABV | 23.0 IBU

This is Widmer’s take on an American Krystalweizen and is named after one of our favorite hop farmers, Gayle Goschie. This hoppy Krystalweizen highlights Crystal hops with an aroma of a wonderful blend of fresh citrus and spicy flavors complimented by fruity esters from our signature yeast.

Fossil Fuel

5.2% ABV | 19.0 IBU

Lager - Amber

We made a modern stein beer by adding the stones to a percentage of the wort contributing caramelization to the beer with hints of caramel, toffee, and maltol. The process adds to the already caramel notes designed into the beer from caramel malts. Heating the rocks over an open fire can also contribute a subtle smokiness.

5.1% ABV | 35.0 IBU

Lager - American Light

The second in our 2017 trials of experimental hops! We brewed a simple lager to create a clean canvas to sample new hops from the field. The second trial in our series has a pleasing breadiness, finishing with notes of black pepper. We'll be releasing a third trial in this series in the upcoming weeks - be sure to check back in to try it!

5.1% ABV | 35.0 IBU

Lager - American Light

The first in our 2017 trials of experimental hops! We brewed a simple lager to create a clean canvas to sample new hops from the field. We added the hops at WHP and FV for maximum aroma and flavor exploration. The first trial in our series has soft characters of plummy stone fruit and hints of strawberry. We’ll be brewing at least three of these in the next weeks to come. Collect and enjoy them all!

Beer Can't Jump

5.1% ABV | 43.0 IBU

IPA - American

Beer Can’t Jump is the second exploration of a simple SMASH IPA with variety specific CO2 hop extract. This version is made with Citra Hops featuring fairly high alpha acids. These relatively new hops bring citrus and tropical notes to the IPA including grapefruit, melon, lime, gooseberry, passion fruit and lychee.

Kirche Im Dorf Lassen

5.5% ABV | 40.0 IBU

Pale Ale - International

A collaboration with Hopworks Urban Brewery, this German Pale Ale was generously
hopped with Hull Melon and Mandarin Bavaria hops. The German idiom, “Kirche Im
Dorf Lassen” literally means to leave the church in the village, but is stated to
illustrate that tradition should be left alone and remain constant and a given.

Brrr Seasonal Ale

7.2% ABV | 50.0 IBU

Winter Ale

Twisted Citrus Hefe

5.1% ABV | 35.0 IBU

Pale Wheat Ale - American

Twisted Citrus is a juicy, hoppy, wheat pale ale made with grapefruit, tangerine and orange peel and copious amounts of Mandarina Bavaria, Cascade, Lemon Drop hops in the whirlpool. Moderate bitterness compliments notes of citrus and breadiness. Twisted Citrus is unfiltered, to finish with a full and clean mouthfeel and coating the tongue with notes of citrus and malty sweetness. Aroma is distinctly blood orange.

Steel Bridge Porter

5.6% ABV | 48.0 IBU

Porter - American

*OBC Collaborator Series*
Steel Bridge Porter wears a beautiful dark robe with a creamy coffee-colored head. The mocha flavors are rich and seductive, yet dry and drinkable. All the malt going on does not hide the hops, which are well-integrated into the overall brew.

Alt Bier

5.0% ABV | 40.0 IBU

The first beer ever brewed by Widmer Brothers. Alt beer is a traditional German ale. Alt is an assertively bitter beer with a clean, dry roasted finish and a deep amber hue. The potent hop bitterness is balanced by the flavor of the Munich and Caramel specialty malts.

4.9% ABV | 30.0 IBU

* 2017 GOLD MEDAL WINNER - Oregon Beer Awards! *
Meet the beer that started it all. Our naturally cloudy flagship brew starts with the highest quality wheat. It's bold, clean flavor and pronounced citrus and floral aromas are what define American-style Hefeweizen. So pour yourself a cool, cloudy glass, finish with a lemon and enjoy the original.

Drop Top Amber

5.5% ABV | 20.0 IBU

Red Ale - American Amber / Red

Drop Top is a rich, flavorful Amber Ale, with an exceptionally smooth and easy taste. Uniquely brewed with honey malt and just a touch of milk sugar, Drop Top's silky character yields complex flavors without a trace of harshness. It all adds up to a brew that's as easy to appreciate as it is to drink.

PDX Pils

4.8% ABV | 34.0 IBU

Pilsner - German

PDX Pils is a Northern German style pilsner brewed in the northern part of Portland. At first whiff, notes of spice and lemon zest envelop you. Because we live in arms reach of the hop farms of the Pacific Northwest, we dry hopped our Pils with the once forgotten Columbia hop. PDX is sessionable at 4.8% ABV, perfect for both the short, grey days of winter and the long, sunny days of summer. The bitterness is firm and lingering true to a Pilsner brewed in the North of Germany. Graham cracker, lemon zest, and mild hop spice complement the bitterness making PDX Pils crisp & refreshing.

Drifter Pale Ale

5.5% ABV | 50.0 IBU

Pale Ale - American

Drifter Pale is hopped with Summit, Alchemy, and Nelson Sauvin hops. We used several types of caramel malts to provide flavor depth, enticing color, and a smooth, mildly sweet backbone to support the hop

Upheaval IPA

7.0% ABV | 85.0 IBU

IPA - American

Upheaval IPA is the result of our brewers’ relentless pursuit of the perfect IPA. With more than two pounds of hops per barrel, Upheaval IPA unleashes a huge hop flavor and aroma with serious bitterness and balanced finish. Brewed with wheat, the result is a hazy, bold IPA that’s Unfiltered. Unexpected. Unapologetic. Uncompromised.
