The Widmer Brothers Pub

The Widmer Brothers Pub has been serving guests in North Portland since 1996. With the main brewery across the street and our 10-barrel innovation system next door, the pub is where we showcase our love for crafting delicious beer. Over half of our 27 taps feature small batch brews from the adjacent innovation brewery, so there’s always something new to try. Perch at the bar with a flight or grab a growler or Crowler of your favorite beer to go.

Tap List

Alt Bier

5.0% ABV | 40.0 IBU

The first beer ever brewed by Widmer Brothers. Alt beer is a traditional German ale. Alt is an assertively bitter beer with a clean, dry roasted finish and a deep amber hue. The potent hop bitterness is balanced by the flavor of the Munich and Caramel specialty malts.

Rosé Apple Cider

6.2% ABV | 0.0 IBU

Cider - Rosé

4.9% ABV | 30.0 IBU

* 2017 GOLD MEDAL WINNER - Oregon Beer Awards! *
Meet the beer that started it all. Our naturally cloudy flagship brew starts with the highest quality wheat. It's bold, clean flavor and pronounced citrus and floral aromas are what define American-style Hefeweizen. So pour yourself a cool, cloudy glass, finish with a lemon and enjoy the original.

Silver Warrior

6.2% ABV | 54.0 IBU

Pale Ale - American

A hoppy pale ale brewed with Sterling and Warrior hops that are Salmon Safe, meaning the hop farm that grew them are certified in helping the conservation of our Oregon urban and agricultural watersheds. The malt too is considered Salmon Safe. This beer is a clean pale that has nuances of fruit and citrus from the Warrior hops coupled with a slight floral note from the Sterling hops. Slightly dry, most of the sugars have been fermented out making this beer dangerously drinkable given it’s ABV. Cheers!

Reformist Pils

5.0% ABV | 30.0 IBU

Pilsner - German

A R&D beer that was focused on pure pilsner malt. This a well balanced Pilsner where the malt keeps up with the floral and spiciness of the hops.

Hash Burst Pale Ale

5.5% ABV | 50.0 IBU

Pale Ale - American

A hoppy pale ale brewed with Hop Hash! Hop Hash is a hop product derived from the pelletizing process. It is typically more concentrated than traditional pellets or hop flowers and packs a heavier bittering and flavor/aroma punch. We used El Dorado hop hash with other fruity hops for this one. Very flavorful but light on its feet, this is turning out to be a go to beer that you can have several of! Cheers.

Fruitless Pursuit

6.4% ABV | 75.0 IBU

IPA - American

**Dan's Ultimate IPA** What if an IPA didn’t have to be full of citrus flavors from the hops and could encompass berry and stonefruit flavors instead? This IPA seeks to fulfill this challenge. A clean malt base of pale ale malt, flaked barley for head retention and crystal 40 for some color all round out the platform for these interesting hops to let their flavors shine through. An intense raspberry and currant aroma draws you in, while the ripe fruit flavors from the hops lead to a satisfying conclusion. Cheers to taking the road less traveled!

Saisonic Shift

7.7% ABV | 45.0 IBU

Saison / Farmhouse Ale

We partnered up with Great Western Malting Company to brew a Saison with some experimental Great Western Malt. The highlight is a “funk malt” they made on their innovation malting system. This malt has nuances of citrus (lemon). This is coupled with their “PURE” Pilsen malt which is light and clean tasting. A traditional Belgian Saison yeast was used, producing fruity esters and a tough of phenols. Brew-1 and Lemondrop hops were used to accentuate the malt profile. The result? A dry, highly complex Saison that showcases some excellent experimental ingredients.

This And That w/Vanilla

8.2% ABV | 70.0 IBU

Winter Warmer

This winter warmer is comprised of many different malts we had on our shelf. We also used some classic “C” hop varieties including Chinook and Cascade. The malt and hop varieties, along with brown sugar are combined to create a throw-back Winter Warmer, paying homage to the beers brewed in this bold style. Willamete and Simcoe hops were added to the fermenter to create a bright and floral nose, complimenting the warming and full bodied structure of the beer. This is one to enjoy and keep you warm as the skies turn grey, the nights come early and the air turns frigid. A liquid blanket of sorts…

Czechs And Balances

5.8% ABV | 36.0 IBU

Pilsner - Czech

Instead of using Saaz, this pils utilizes a lesser known Czech hop named Kazbek, which still has the characteristic spiciness of Saaz with a little added charm. Assertively hoppy and refreshing, this is truly a `brewer’s beer`”.

Seed the Change

7.1% ABV | 60.0 IBU

Hemp IPA

IPA brewed with hemp seeds

Hefe X Cascade

5.6% ABV | 40.0 IBU

The Hefe X series is a dry-hopped version focusing on a single hop varietal to highlight the inclusion of specific and unique hops. Cascade hops provide medium intense floral, citrus and grapefruit tones to our favorite American Style Hefeweizen. A NW and craft classic, Cascade was the result of OSU cross breeding English Fuggle, Russian Serebrianker, and an unknown male.

Open Sourcery

7.0% ABV | 69.0 IBU

IPA - New England

Open Sourcery is the collaboration between Mozilla (Firefox) and WBB. The idea for this collaboration was to open source a beer style and parameters via a survey. Once we obtained survey results we proceeded to make a beer to meet those expecations of high ABV (7%+), Light color, highly hopped (70 BU), heavy oats, with a soft haze. Once released, we’ll continue to solicit information from customers to help refine a future version. This is a virtual continuous improvement and feedback loop to help create V.1,2,3 or more! Here’s to Open Source!

Dark Perspective

5.0% ABV | 35.0 IBU

What you have here is a traditional Schwarzbier. A recipe from brewer Dan Munch, this beer is well balanced and clean. Rich malt character from a generous addition of Munich malt provides a smooth base to support a light roasty character. Nearly black in color w/ tinges of red, this beer is surprisingly easy drinking. Full flavored without being overwhelming, Dark Perspective is perfectly balanced. Prost!

Juicy Sunrise

6.0% ABV | 60.0 IBU

IPA - New England

Broken Halo IPA

6.0% ABV | 0.0 IBU

IPA - American

Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness.

Thing #6

5.5% ABV | 60.0 IBU

IPA - New England

Thing 6 is the latest in our exploration of Hazy IPA styles, this time with an interplay between a different ale yeast and three hops with noticeably fruity flavors. The London Ale 1 yeast adds fruity esters as well as a noticeable minerality in the finish, while the blend of three hops cuts though the yeast and protein haze to deliver a harmonious blend of fruit flavors.

LA Haze

6.5% ABV | 60.0 IBU

IPA - New England

LA Haze is not all smog, but it is a Galaxy driven haze monster that is sure to cloud even the clearest of minds. So, get your acting bug on and make a go of it as aspiring film star (or beer style). Here’s to adding to the haze vs clear IPA debate.

Salted Plum Sour

3.9% ABV | 5.0 IBU

Sour - Gose

Andy REDmundson

9.5% ABV | 80.0 IBU

IPA - Red

Hoppy American Red Ale named after our favorite Aussie

Hefe X (Mosaic Hops)

4.9% ABV | 45.0 IBU

Hefeweizen is an unfiltered American style Hefeweizen (wheat and yeast ale) that is purposefully very cloudy in appearance due to live yeast in suspension. Wheat and biscuit aromas and flavors provide the backbone to the golden beer, and they are augmented by yeast and hop derived citrus and faintly spicy attributes. The Hefe X series is a FV (Dip) hopped version focusing on a single hop varietal to highlight the inclusion of specific and unique hops.

Benny’s Big Baltic Porter

9.0% ABV | 30.0 IBU

Porter - Baltic

A collaboration brew with Widmer Brothers celebrating the great interns Oregon State University produces through its Fermentation Science program.

Russell Street IPA

6.3% ABV | 70.0 IBU

IPA - American

Russell Street IPA is the epitome of a West Coast IPA: intense hop flavor and sessionability balanced with a noticeable body. Named for the street that Widmer Brothers calls home, Russell Street IPA is powered by Mosaic, Citra, and Azacca hops for a pronounced citrus and tropical profile.

Green Skies

6.3% ABV | 78.0 IBU

Hazy IPA

**Parker's Ultimate**Green Skies is a hoppy American IPA showcasing hops that are bright and fruity, including Idaho 7, Bru-1, Citra and Summit. A small amount of Columbus hops are also used to round out the pallet and put a little bass to the treble of the higher noted hops. The hop profile is countered by a malt bill that is light but malty enough to stand up to the massive amounts of green deliciousness added throughout the brewing process.

Raspberry Quintuple

15.0% ABV | 0.0 IBU

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

For this year's event, Widmer Brothers Brewing made a Belgian Dark Strong Ale with Raspberries. The raspberries work perfectly with the chocolate nuances from the malt and the ester profile. With slight alcohol warmth, this beer is perfect for a evening sipper or a digestif.

Pinky's Old Maple Barley Wine

10.5% ABV | 80.0 IBU

Barleywine - American

Pinky’s Old Maple Barley Wine was a Pink Boots Society beer brewed by our talented female brewing staff. The team got together and decided they wanted to brew a bold barley wine with 100% pure maple syrup. The syrup was added near the end of fermentation so it would maintain a nuance in the beer. A Pink Boots proprietary hop blend was used in this beer as well. The result is a hearty, traditional American Style Barley Wine brewed by our talented female labor force. Oh, and did I mention a portion of the proceeds of this beer will go to the Pink Boots Society Scholarship to advance women in the industry?

Orange Creamsicle

6.0% ABV | 60.0 IBU

IPA - American

This India Orange Ale was brewed with a heavy load of several orange/citrus nuanced hops including Summit, 431, Citra, and El Dorado hop hash. It was then transferred onto orange zest and vanilla beans, and is being pushed with Nitro!
